This album was cut in the mid 60's after the original version of "Tall Cool One" on 1959's Golden Crest label had charted once again. Frustrated with their deal with the New York label, the group went into the studio, recut their hit, and packaged it with a brace of loose jams and a trio of vocals. One of those vocals is the original Northwest cut of "Louie Louie," featuring an inspired vocal by the legendary Rockin' Robin Roberts, being the version that inspired the Kingsmen and launched a million frat and garage bands worldwide. Another chapter in the history of this very important and influential Northwest rock & roll band.
The Wailers dispensed crude, greasy, largely instrumental rock & roll music for those who came to shake it up and shake it down, and it's all on fine, rhythmic, open display here. This album is amazing in its own simplistic, nuthin'-special way, its crudity almost palpable. Everything is built on the riff-sturdy bones of their biggest hit, "Tall Cool One." With two guitars, keys, sax, and drums -- no bass player anywhere on here, another crudeness indicator of the times and locale it was recorded in -- all blasting away like they're working a VFW Hall dance, hoof shakers like "Louie Louie," "Frenzied," "Shake Down" and "Tough Walk" stand loud and proud as teen hall rock & roll at its finest. Even more amazing is that the tonal crudity of this recording is enhanced even further on the MONO pressings of this album! Northwest grunge in its original 1950s incarnation that can be appreciated by everyone who hears its basic message, unless you happen to have something against three chords and a lot of energy.

CONDITION: The cover is pretty nice VG++ for a 46 year old relic of teen rock'n'roll...no split seams, no bends and no writing...solid!
The vinyl : very glossy both sides...VG++ only few little nothing soft short scuffs are only reflectve in strong light, otherwise clean, plays excellent.
A cool addition to anyone's music library!
