Description
This auction is for a promotional display sent in 1963 to record stores by United Artists to promote their soundtrack LPs. The display reads "Great Music From the Movies! - United Artists - The Proudest Name in Entertainment". The entire display measures 47" wide by 25" tall. The five albums advertised are: The Great Escape (which starred Steve McQueen and James Garner - UAL 4107), Dr. No (starring Sean Connery - UAL 4108 ), Ferrante and Teicher Love Themes from Cleopatra (UAL 3290) , Irma La Douce (which starred Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine - UAL 4109), Mondo Cane (UAL 4105). Each of the album cover slicks is of the Monaural version. The display is made of thick cardboard in three parts, which were once attached. The display was meant to sit in a store window with each side panel slightly bent , so that it would stand up. Each side panel came off, but could easily be reattached. The display is in good condition - there is light wear to the edges/corners - there are a few marks on it - there is a 2" mark on the Cleopatra LP cover. There can't be many, if any more of these displays around. United Artists didn't seem to make many promotional displays. A GREAT PIECE OF MOVIE / SOUNDTRACK HISTORY! I will be listing hundreds of 1950s/60s rock and roll items I have collected over the last 27 years. Many items I acquired from a record warehouse I cleaned out 15 years ago and there are some great promotional posters/displays. I've been dealing in original Beatles memorabilia for the last 27 years. I put all the other non-Beatles rock groups memorabilia in storage.
