They are well known to gospel singing audiences all over the country, having appeared in all-night singings, concerts, TV and radio programs for the past several years. The singing of the Blue Ridge Quartet is characterized by beautiful harmony and smooth rhythm. This style of singing has won them fans by the thousands. Elmo Fagg is the lead singer, emcee and business manager. He is known as one of the best lead singers in gospel singing. He sings the beautiful, slow, soft songs with feeling and delicacy and the happy songs with enthusiasm and life. His wide voice range enables him to handle, fluently, all types of gospel songs. No other singer has been able to copy his style. The first tenor for the Bludge Ridge Quartet is sung by Ed Sprouse. His beautiful natural tenor voice, along with his training and experience, makes him one of the favorite tenors in the business. Many of the Blue Ridge songs are arranged to feature Edzs beautiful tenor. He can be heard on several of the songs in the album in his own clear sky-high style of singing. George Younce lays down a smooth solid foundation for the quartet with his deep bass voice. Not only does he give fullness to the harmony of the group, but he also does some bass solo parts that have become very popular and frequently requested. His smooth bass singing is looked forward to in every record album or public performance. New comer to the Blue Ridge, Jim Hamil, is not new in gospel music. He discovered his love for gospel singing early in life and has pursued this work ever since. His robust baritone voice along with his personality is a real contribution to the Blue Ridge Quartet. Jim is a favorite with every audience when he steps out for a baritone feature. Kenny Gates has been the able accompanist for the Blue Ridge for many years. He aids in the arrangements of songs and is able to fill in vocally when some one has to miss a per- formance. He seems to know exactly what to play to help the quartet sing its best. He plays the piano accompaniment in this album and in all the stage, TV, and radio performances given by group.
