Description
1958 Zoot Sims (Quartet) Plays Alto Tenor & Baritone. Uk HMV CLP 1165. This is the year of issue curved cut fully laminated flipback sleeve with the blue lettered rear, which in 1959 goes black & white, and then the 1960 onwards sleeves have the straight non laminated flip rears, so a true 1st year issue in better quality vinyl than the noisy 1st US ABC press. Near Mint surfaces and clean labels, this was in a record shop storage for the past forty years, played a couple of times by me on a high end system only. The owner retired a while back, then after many years told the guy who took over the shop that he had some old stock he could have. I was there the day the boxes were opened, I left with an empty wallet. My list this week is a cherry pick of the best of the jazz, most of it only ever played by me on a good system.
Near Mint record (couple of shallow marks not sounding on a good mono cart) and Near Mint playback, excellent sleeve. An exceptional date
