1953 FRANK MOTLEY 78rpm FRANTIC-SPECIALTY RECORDS ~ PHOTOS; BROADSIDES+ ....RHYTHM & BLUES
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS
- This is more than the record. It is actually a nice selection of history attributed to the legendary FRANK MOTLEY, the dual trumpet player, and his orchestra.
- Everything here came in the large envelope from " L Claiborne"; mailed to Bob Bennett in Phila. in Aug. 1953.
- The centerpiece of this collection may well be the record album, but there are many more hard to find pieces here.
- The record is 10" (75 rpm size) by SPECIALTY Records. One side has "FRANTIC" by Frank Motley (Dual Trumpeter) and his Crew. SP-454. The other side is "HEAVY WEIGHT BABY" by JIMMY CRAWFORD with FRANK MOTLEY and his crew. XSP-454. The condition is excellent. May have been played once, if that. This was not with other albums. This has been in the envelope all these years. So, any wear would be from storage.
- There are 4 - 8" x 10" photos (3 are glossy). One identifies Motley as being with Gotham Records. And another has him with Specialty, Gotham, and Victor. "L. Claiborne" was labeled as his Personal Manager. Yet another one has Motley with T.N.T.Tribble, The Walking Drummer Man".
- There are 3 broadside display pieces. 8" x 17" From FRIDAY AUGUST 3, 1951 with Frank Motley performing on the S.S. BEAR MOUNTAIN cruise. (Dancing Begins at Mid-Night). HAROLD JACKSON, "THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT" M.C. ~ 9" x 12" Announcement at SENATOR THEATRE for Motley & his 5 Piece Combo; songs by Bernice Burns; Dance Queen Barbara Shorters; tapping T.N.T. Willie Gatewood; ON SCREEN: DESTRY RIDES AGAIN with James Steward & Marlene Dietrich. ~ 4.25" x 11" Exciting New Stars Coming Up, Frank Motley & Orchestra playing "That's All Right With Me" & "Dual Trumpet Blues".
