Raymond Trouard is a French pianist, born August 9, 1916 in Etampes and died December 17, 2008 in Paris.

At the Paris Conservatoire, he obtained his first piano Prize in 1933, and a second Conductors Award in 1937. Its professors André Bloch, Joseph Morpain Victor Staub, Emil von Sauer (himself a pupil of Liszt Weimar ...), Marcel Dupré, Paul Dukas, Philippe Gaubert and Bruno Walter. He completed his musical studies with Yves Nat, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Manuel Infante, Maurice Ravel ... He gave his first piano recital in 1935. He won the first Grand Prix Louis Diémer in 1939. Thus began for him a great international career that takes him worldwide: in France of course, but throughout Europe, England, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Holland. He also plays in South America and North America (USA, Canada). He plays recitals and with orchestras under the direction of the greatest leaders: Philippe Gaubert, Pierre Monteux, Eugène Bigot, André Cluytens, Pierre Dervaux, Richard Beck, Carl Schuricht ... His repertoire is vast, from Bach to Dutilleux. He excels Liszt in which it holds not only the technique but also the spirit of sonship with Emile Sauer.

French critics see in him one of piano masters of the twentieth century:

    "The piano, the sumptuous piano Emile Sauer, Rachmaninoff, Vladimir Horowitz and can be proud of Mr. Trouard". (Jean Wiener).

    "The appassionata was the best or the most sublime - I would definitely use the absolute superlative - I heard from Yves Nat". (Jose Bruyr).

International criticism is no less laudatory:

    "For a long Debussy was not interpreted with such ingenuous force in so intuitive approach at this evening given by Trouard". Der Tagesspiegel - Berlin.
    "The central event of the concert was the Ravel concerto with Raymond Trouard. The audience as the orchestra (Vienna Symphony) suffered the fascination of the pianist who was celebrated with enthusiasm. " Neues Osterreich - Vienna.
    "The game Trouard Raymond made the Burlesque by Richard Strauss, an undeniable success for himself and for the work." Volkstimme - Vienna.
    "It is a spiritual artist, full of poetry, taking, and legendary ... technically." Svenska Dagbladet - Stockholm.
    "Raymond has Trouard the intrepid zeal, steel technique, clear and bright sound, openness and safety of rhythmic virtuoso". Le Soir - Brussels.

Raymond Trouard included among the great interpreters of Chopin. The disc, he gave a definitive version of the 14 waltzes. He made numerous recordings for Odeon firms, and CBS and EMI. These recordings have been remastered and are reissued (May 2008) by November 1 CD set by the firm Sony, cabinet entitled "Raymond Trouard: A Life for the piano." A booklet is included, with a recent interview with the artist by Frederick Gaussin (2007). Many other records are waiting for a future commercial edition.

Raymond Trouard had many students as Dalberto Michel, Jean-Gabriel Ferlan, Eric Ferrer and Marc-Henri Lamande at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, where he was professor from 1969 to 1985.

Quick note on grading:

The Grade (Excellent to Fair, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately

When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to F), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"SUPERQUIET" is basically noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an exceptionally quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example without undue noise for a give pressing.

These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.

Records will be packed safely between corrugated cardboard in a sturdy box with plenty of padding for safe shipment.

Shipment is usually Media Mail, unless another service is requested. Shipping is at your risk, I will be happy to insure items at your cost.

I charge actual postage plus a small fee for packing materials

Prices below are for regular 78 rpm records. Up to about 5 records, I will ship Edison Discs for the same rates. Albums from Album Sets count as 1 record. Above that and for international shipments, it will be actual weight plus a small packing charge (1-3$ depending on size of shipment)

MANY MORE RECORDS: Don't worry. I safely ship 40 - 50 pounds of records double boxed in moving boxes, and even then Media Mail will probably not exceed 30$.
