Description
Ultra-rare Paramount race record sleeve. Probably from around 1930 with Charley Patton's first records advertised. Also Blind Blake, Hokum Boys, Blind Lemon Jefferson. Condition is excellent. There are no split edges, the bottom edge is 100% intact. There are a few short tears on the reverse. I have not pressed or ironed it, but this would take out the creases. I found this in a rural estate sale with a few store stock Broadway, Puritan, Banner and other labels in original sleeves. I believe they were unsold store stock, because there were duplicates in unplayed condition in original sleeves. This Paramount sleeve held a country record, not a race record. The factory in Grafton must have made a mistake using a race sleeve for rural Minnesota country record buyers.
I wish I had copies of all of these records! If anyone has an original Charley Patton or Blind Blake Paramount in great condition, this sleeve would add a lot to the value. The record in the last picture is NOT included for sale. I added it to show how the sleeve looks with a Paramount record in it. The auction is for the SLEEVE ONLY.
