This Lp was released on the 3rd of December 1965 and stayed at the number 1 position for a total of 9 weeks from Christmas that year....What a pressie to unwrap!

This is often mistaken for a CBS contract pressing, however infact it is an EMI pressing using older pre 1964 pressing moulds, at some stage for whatever reason EMI began producing during 1965 copies of Rubber Soul using older pressing moulds which had a distinctive 'groove' to the label which is far more commonly seen in pre 1964 EMI pressings (some black and gold ppm copies have this). Either way these copies of Rubber Soul (and some are known to exist in Revolver) are considerably rarer and difficult to locate than the standard label format!

VG.
Lovely shine and weight.
There are some light marks and scuffing-nothing terrible.
I did notice on track 3, side 2, there are two small spots of raised vinyl from the pressing....After playing her all the way through-and taking special attention to these two spots-I found a revolutionary pop for about 12 revolutions BUT NO JUMPS OR SKIPS!!
 I was very VERY happy with the sound reproduction, providing
GORGEOUSLY RICH AND DEEP SOUND
A LITTLE professional clean to get the dust out and Bob's yer uncle-you've got a very VERY nice copy indeed...just an incredibly light amount of gentle noise in the background due to the dust.
FLAT AS THE DAY SHE WAS BORN

**STRANGELY I NOTICED THE END OF SIDE 1 JUST REMAINED PERPETUAL!!!!! UNLIKE EVERY OTHER PARLOPHONE RUBBER SOUL I HAVE HAD, MY NEEDLE ON MY TECHNICS SL-BD20D, DID NOT RAISE AND RETURN AUTOMATICALLY-VERY STRANGE**

NOW HERE IS THE UNUSUAL PART FOR THE LABELOLOGISTS:
It has a ridge around the edge-similar to a Philips Pressing-just to the one side, but is clearly visible to the naked eye. I have tryed to picture it as best I can.
I have only seen these ridges on contract presses.
** I HAVE NEVER SEEN IT ON RUBBER SOUL BEFORE**
There are light spindle marks visible when angled towards the light, with minimal wear to the central holes...!

(This is an unusual tax code for this lp as the MT tax code was used from January 1963 only until the 1st of June 1963...a very short running indeed and as this record was released in December 1965 it is a very unusual label indeed!)

Cover: VG(+). Patents Pending. Shiny front cover...There are some small crescents of spidering to the front laminate, as well as a 8cm or so line in the laminate.
 The corners near the opening carry some gentle rubbing, whilst the top and bottom of the spine are in FAB condition.
SUPERBLY strong and legible spine...with PINCHED CORNERS too!
NO SPLITS
NO WRITING ANYWHERE.

Light discolouration to the back card.
 Very, very strong & SOLID Garrod & Lofthouse flipbacks.
Very nice example.


Inner: EX+. ORIGINAL "Use Emitex" inner in SUPERB condition. Has the tracing paper inner-very early.
NO writing.
NO splits.
Light discolouration.
She has certainly done her job-in keeping the record in very nice condition.

ALL IN ALL THIS IS A SUPERB SOUNDING ALBUM WITH A RARER LABEL AND NOT FORGETTING THE MT TAX CODE TOO.
ALL QUITE UNUSUAL-NOT MANY PEOPLE WOULD HAVE THIS IN THEIR COLLECTION AND CERTAINLY NOT IN AS WONDERFUL CONDITION AS THIS IS!
