Click to view supersized image Offered is a rarity indeed-a 14" diameter Victor Deluxe Special single-sided disc from 1903.

In March of 1903, Victor announced and produced these large diameter records which proved to be a commercial failure, and they were soon discontinued. They were fragile and clumsy, and very few examples have survived today.

They were designed to be played at 60rpm (see scan of the sticker on the blank reverse side).

This particular disc is by the Victor Symphony Orchestra entitled "Morgenblatter Waltz." The Victor record number is 2025, making this disc even scarcer than normal, because the numbering of these 14" records was changed soon thereafter to a 41000 series.

This record is in V to V+ condition. There are three pressing pimples and some pressure marks which tick, and all of which require the necessity of some extra weight on the tone arm to keep it from hopping. It otherwise plays with good fidelity. The label is slightly grainy.

This record originally sold for $2.00 in 1903, but my starting bid of $8.99 reflects inflation!

Note-because of the great care and packing required to safely ship this fragile disc, the shipping cost is $10.00 (U.S address). In addition, other wins from my ebay auctions cannot be combined with this item, again to insure safe and secure packaging.
