Description

"Why Can't We Be Sweethearts" by Karl & Kenny (Forshey). This is an 11-inch one-sided shellac test pressing from Gennett Records. Recorded Oct. 24, 1931 (NY arrival date of 10/31 is written on label). This was eventually issued as Champion 16340 and is extremely scarce. Music is a vocal duet with piano accompaniment. Condition is V to V+ with some peak distortion but mostly plays quite well. There is a large 2" length bite taken out of the extra-wide edge of the record that does not interfere with any of the music. Still plays from start to finish without interruption, skipping or stuck grooves. Reverse consists of raised concentric circles. This is a heavy shellac disc, weighing 1 lb. 1.5 oz. (normal 78s weigh 8 oz.)
