Description
Please see photos for more information on what is on this RARE IRAQI 78 RPM. Both sides feature an artist named Sett Salima Pasha. One side has the song as written in English Makdar Akoulan ah Pt 1, and on the other side, Tirda Ya Rabbi, Part II. I was able to find this passage online which describes this female vocalist:T
"The Jewish Iraqi singer Sett Salima Pasha (later: Salima Murad; Sett being used for honorific for Lady; Pasha an honorific title) lived from 1900 to 1972 and was the best-known singer in Iraq. With her husband, the famous singer Nazim Al Ghazali, Salima became renowned as an expert pesta singer."
The record has the "His Master's Voice" logo with the dog and the vintage record player. The bottom states that it is manufactured by "The Gramophone Co, Ltd, Hayes, Middlesex, England". This 78 is in very well preserved condition in an album with textured sleeves as shown here (the sleeves were removed to sell the 78's), with perhaps a faint scratch or two, I'll grade as VG++.
